Professor Li joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in July 2013 and was selected into the "New Century Excellent Talents Program" of the Ministry of Education of China in the same year. In August 2022, he joined the Macau Institute of Materials Science and Engineering of Macau University of Science and Technology under the "Jinghai Scholars" talent program. His main research areas are the synthesis of semiconductor nanocrystals (quantum dots) and the preparation of related optoelectronic devices. Currently, he has published more than 100 papers in famous international journals such as Nature Photonics, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, and Journal of American Chemical Society. The projects currently undertaken and participated in include Macao’s key R&D projects, National Natural Science Foundation of China general funds, national key R&D projects and multiple corporate development projects. He was also granted 2 EU authorized patents, 3 U.S. patents, and 40 Chinese-authorized patents. Many of these patents have enabled industrialized production and he had been awarded the Advanced Individual for the Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
